Managing Change

There is a lot of uncertainty and change going on right now. Collectively, we are all experiencing some type of grief. There are also those who are experiencing trauma and grief.

This week, I want to encourage you to focus on the things in your life that haven’t changed. What are some of the things that have not changed over the recent weeks? I must admit that by the end of last week I was feeling ungrounded. I was feeling a level of stress that I hadn’t experienced in eight years. In order to calm my stress, I turned to my constants. A few of them included:

  • My love for my family
  • The satisfaction that my work as a therapist brings me
  • Connecting with my friends
  • The dependability of the sun

What are your constants that provide comfort and consistency to you? You can have one or several. Journal them so that you can have a reference guide to read whenever you are feeling stressed.
