Contentment As A Practice
“The Sanskrit word santosha is divided into two parts: sam, meaning completely or entirely, and tosha, meaning acceptance, satisfaction, and contentment. Together they create a word that means complete acceptance or contentment.” - Yoga International.
Simple enough right? Not particularly, we humans often look for things outside of ourselves to be happy. Contentment is being present without judgement or wanting.
“Looking outward for fulfillment will always disappoint us and keep contentment one step out of reach” - Deborah Adele, author said.
To practice contentment this week, ground yourself by making observations without judgement. For example, the line is long, or the sky is blue.
